Data Deletion Policy for Winker
Purpose
This policy outlines our approach to handling data deletion requests in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective since May 2018. It clarifies the data deletion rights of individuals and Winker's obligations when responding to such requests.
This policy is applicable to all forms of information used within the Company, including, but not limited to:
Emails
Digital documents
Audio and video recordings
Data produced by physical access control systems
Individual Rights
Individuals have the "right to erasure," also referred to as the "right to be forgotten." This right allows individuals to request the removal or deletion of their personal data in situations where continued processing is not justified.
Data Retained by Winker
Winker collects information provided during the registration process, which may include personal details such as name, email address, payment information, and other relevant data. Login information such as session times, time zone, and connection type (e.g., WiFi or cellular) is also retained to support user experience and streamline access to Winker’s services.
Conditions for Exercising the Right to Erasure
Under GDPR guidelines, individuals may request the deletion of personal data under specific conditions, such as:
Compliance with legal obligations requiring data deletion.
Instances of unlawful data processing.
Objections to data processing with no other legal basis for retention.
Withdrawal of consent for data processing.
Data no longer being necessary for its original purpose.
Data Deletion Process
Users wishing to discontinue using Winker and delete their accounts may do so through the App by navigating to "Mine" > "Settings" > "Delete Account". Account deletion will occur upon confirmation by the user.
After receiving a request, we will review and delete data that is not required for regulatory, tax, legal, or other mandatory purposes. For example, certain location, device, and usage data may be retained for safety, security, fraud prevention, or research purposes as deemed necessary. In situations where account deletion cannot proceed, such as pending account balances or unresolved claims, the account will be deleted once these issues are resolved.
Winker may retain specific information as needed for security and safety purposes. For example, in cases where a user’s account was deactivated due to unsafe behavior or security concerns, certain data may be retained to prevent the individual from re-registering in the future.
Please note that account deletion is a permanent action. Users should be aware that once an account is deleted, Winker Services will no longer be available to them, and we will cease collecting any personal information. Careful consideration is advised before proceeding with account deletion.
